Project Profile: Baldwin Preparatory Academy

Project Overview:

Baldwin Preparatory Academy is a trailblazing educational institution in Loxley, Alabama, designed to combine rigorous academics with hands-on career training in a state-of-the-art facility. This 200,000-square-foot campus is at the forefront of preparing students for both college and the workforce, offering programs in fields ranging from cybersecurity and aviation to culinary arts and engineering.

Our team was entrusted with furnishing this innovative space, selecting pieces that would enhance both the academic and practical learning environments. The majority of the furniture comes from Global Furniture Group, known for its durability and modern design.  Other featured manufacturers are KI, Via Seating, 9to5 Seating, SitOnIt and Eko Contract.

From Inception to Installation

Our design team played a crucial role in bringing Baldwin Prep’s vision to life. Given the floor plan, our designer spent months meticulously crafting multiple layout options for the client. This process included 3D rendering videos and PowerPoint presentations, ensuring that every detail was considered. After the client selected their preferred furniture options, our designer worked closely with them to choose the perfect finishes and fabrics. This collaboration involved numerous revisions, all aimed at achieving a space that was both functional and aesthetically aligned with the school’s forward-thinking ethos.

Key Furniture Highlights:

• Classrooms: Equipped with Global Bungee tables and Sonic chairs, providing flexible and ergonomic solutions for both individual and group learning. Teachers' desks are Instruck from KI, offering durable and efficient workspaces that complement the modern classroom environment.
• Cybersecurity & E-Sports Benching Stations: These high-tech areas feature cool Global Tye chairs, supporting a focused and dynamic workspace for students in cutting-edge fields.
• Architecture & Construction Classrooms: These specialized classrooms feature KI Stout Tables with butcher block tops, paired with Via Splash Air chairs. This setup is designed to support the hands-on learning required in these fields, combining durability with comfort.
• Collaboration Areas: Outfitted with a mix of Global Ballara and Personal Harbor seating with H@kr and Swagr from Eko Contract, these spaces are designed to foster teamwork and creativity. Additional seating includes Global Zira tables, River curved lounge seating, Citi lounge chairs, and Sirena chairs, all contributing to a versatile and comfortable environment.
• Cafeteria: The dining area boasts Global Bridges tables, Global Venture booths paired with Swap tables, offering both communal and private seating options for students to relax and recharge.
• Admin Offices: The administrative offices are outfitted with Global Princeton desking systems, paired with ergonomic Loover chairs. The ML lounge chairs are used as guest seating at the desks, providing a stylish and comfortable option for visitors. The waiting area features Global Wind sofas and Erin chairs, creating a welcoming atmosphere for staff and guests alike.
• Exhibit Hall: This multifunctional space features Global Terina tables and Via Splash chairs, providing flexibility for various events and presentations. A Global Zira lectern serves as a central point for speakers, ensuring a professional and polished setting for all exhibits.
• Meeting Room: A Zira conference table, accompanied by 9to5 Seating Cosmo chairs, anchors the meeting room, providing a professional setting for school leadership and collaborative discussions.

Baldwin Prep’s forward-thinking educational model required a furniture solution that could not only meet the functional demands of a diverse array of learning environments but also inspire and engage both students and educators. By selecting versatile, high-quality furniture, we created spaces that support collaborative learning, individual focus, and hands-on training. From ergonomic seating that enhances comfort during long study sessions to durable workstations that withstand the rigors of technical training, every piece of furniture was chosen with the specific needs of Baldwin Prep's students in mind.
